Understanding By Design.
The entire teaching staff at Hudsonville Christian has received training in Understanding By Design. The goal is for for HCS to have a uniform process for curriculum unit development.
Outcome: Each staff member has the skills to produce a quality assessment and supporting materials for instructional unit.
- research based and educationally sound
- addresses the state standards
- identifies specific essential understandings and achievement expectations
- uses assessment of these understandings as a starting point
- enduring understandings address worldview issues
- provides students and teachers opportunity to frame learning in a Christian perspective
- complete coursework for Understanding by Design which is to include producing an assessment and developing an instructional unit.
- participate in inservice Feb. 4, 2005 afternoon that will serve as the final session of the course
- after Feb. 4 participate in conference with administrator regarding individual professional development
- turn in a final unit that reflects learnings in the Understanding By Design course
